Bali Beach, Rethymno

Bali is a seaside village in the Melidoni Community of the Municipality of Mylopotamos in the Rethymno Regional Unit of Crete. It is located approximately 32 km east of Rethymno and 50 km from Heraklion, which has become a tourist resort.

The Venetians called it Atali, from its ancient name which was Astali. There is also the Monastery of Atali nearby, which preserves the medieval name of the place. It is built on an elevated small peninsula, so it has a view of the bay and the sea.

Formerly a fishing village, today it is an important holiday resort with hotels and apartments. Bali has a port, nice fish taverns and a beach with an islet.

The journey from major cities such as Heraklion and Chania takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, offering a scenic drive along the Cretan coastline. Follow the well-marked signs and enjoy the picturesque landscapes on your way to this seaside retreat.
